STEMworks Programs

The A World In Motion® program is a K-12 teacher-administered program that brings STEM education to life in the classroom. It allows students to work within an integrated structure to solve a Challenge by setting goals, building knowledge, designing and building a prototype, then defending their design decisions through presentation.

The Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative is the Alabama Department of Education's initiative to improve math and science statewide. Its mission is to provide all students in Grades K-12 with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the workforce and/or postsecondary studies.

The Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) is an innovative, effective, and scalable science education program that provides teacher professional development, curriculum materials, and research-grade equipment and supplies to high schools, completely free of charge.

Each unit of Amplify Science engages students in a relevant real-world problem where they investigate scientific phenomena, engage in collaboration and discussion, and develop models in order to arrive at solutions. Authored by UC Berkeley’s Lawrence Hall of Science, Amplify Science provides a comprehensive program, blending literacy-rich activities, hands-on lessons, and engaging digital experiences to empower students to think, read, write, and argue like real 21st century scientists and engineers.

ASSET (Achieving Student Success through Excellence in Teaching) STEM Education is a national STEM improvement nonprofit that inspires innovation and excellence in STEM by providing highly effective educator professional development, hands-on classroom materials and consulting services to schools, universities and organizations.

Bootstrap crafts research-based curricular modules for integrating computing and data science into existing middle- and high-school courses, such as math, physics, and social studies. Our materials reinforce core concepts from math (algebra and statistics), using computing and data to support modeling and analysis skills that can embed into contexts of a teacher’s choice. We place data science at the intersection of computing, math, and domains of study. This enables schools to simultaneously work towards a range of math and computer science standards within their existing courses. Our materials are hands-on and project-based, with a combination of work both off and on a computer.

BootUp offers district-wide elementary computer science (CS) implementation. Professional development occurs through a combination of in-person workshops and on-site support spread out over time. Support includes multiple full-day PD sessions, model teaching and coaching, train-the-trainer support, PLC support, and district implementation support. PD is scaffolded in a way for teachers to begin teaching and practicing in the classroom after their first workshop.

Delivered as an after-school program during the school year and at a two-week intensive summer camp, the innovative Build IT curriculum engages 100 Alameda County girls annually in technology through hands-on, project-based learning and through interactions with professionals in information technology.

The C-STEM Challenge is a highly motivating comprehensive cradle to career program that encourages collaboration, requires critical thinking, and application of knowledge and skills to solve real-world problems. The program consists of 8 modules: Debate, Robotics, Innovation, Computer Programming, Sculpture, Mural, Film, and Photography.
